I believe this was John Le Carre's second published book. Regardless, it's still one of his best. It is the quiet and intellectually stimulating story of a murder as investigated by George Smiley - who gains in stature and fame in future Le Carre novels. This one is short, easy to read, and displays the work of an excellent wordsmith.
All mystery readers will enjoy this book.
